On March 3, within the framework of attending the Ministerial Meeting on Asia’s Net Zero Emissions Community (AZEC) in Tokyo (Japan), Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan Hiroyuki Hosoda, met with the Chairman of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Union Toshihiro Nikai, received Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yasutoshi Nishimura and received Japanese parliamentarians in charge of the environment of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).

At the meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha assessed that Vietnam-Japan relations are at the best stage in the past 50 years; affirming that Vietnam attaches great importance to and wishes to work with Japan to further strengthen the extensive strategic partnership; requested Speaker Hosoda to promote the Government of Japan to support Vietnam in developing strategic infrastructure, developing human resources, science and technology, and innovation, as well as having policies to support the community of nearly 500,000 Vietnamese living, studying and working conveniently in Japan.

Speaker Hosoda expressed his pleasure to welcome Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and emphasized that Vietnam is an important partner of Japan. He also affirmed that the House of Representatives of Japan supports the promotion of cooperation in all fields between the two countries; expressed his desire to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two countries and once again conveyed an invitation to National Assembly President Vuong Dinh Hue to visit Japan soon.

At the meeting of Japanese parliamentarians in charge of the environment, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha asked the parliamentarians to support the Japanese Government to provide financial support and share experiences with Vietnam in responding to climate change and low-emission development; mobilizing Japanese enterprises to invest and transfer technology to Vietnam in the fields of high technology, new energy, promoting green transformation, digital transformation…

During the meeting with the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, Minister Nishimura expressed his thanks to Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and the Vietnamese delegation attending the conference on AZEC; emphasized that Japan considers Vietnam an important partner to jointly implement the AZEC initiative, wishing to join Vietnam and other countries in actively discussing and promoting cooperation to achieve the goal of reducing emissions on the basis of trust and fairness.
