Vietnam leads the cancellation of global coal-fired power projects in 2023

The latest report of the Global Energy Monitor shows that Vietnam has canceled 9.6GW of proposed coal-fired power projects from January to May 2023. This is the country’s largest proposed cancellation of coal-fired power plants in 2023.

Power supply in the years 2024-2025 still faces many difficulties

14 renewable energy projects have generated 95.7 million kWh of electricity

According to the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), as of July 7, 14 transitional renewable energy plants/parts with a total capacity of 686.12MW have completed COD procedures, generating commercial power up to net. The cumulative power generation output of these projects is about 95.7 million kWh; in which, the average daily power generation is about 3.2 million kWh, accounting for about 0.4% of the total mobilized power output.
