On 20th April, the Norwegian Embassy and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in collaboration with National Assembly’s Committee on Science, Technology and Environment held a workshop on “Offshore wind power and marine spatial planning of Vietnam”.
According to UNDP’s Representative in Vietnam, accelerating marine spatial planning is essential to unlocking the great potential of offshore wind power development for Vietnam, contributing to the realization of the Development Goals. Sustainable development, climate change goals, including net zero emissions by 2050.
At the seminar, domestic and international experts shared the progress of Vietnam’s GBM construction, experience in sustainable ocean planning, zoning in the GBM, and development of offshore wind power projects. In some countries, assess wind power development areas in the GBM. According to experts, by creating a decision-making framework and engaging stakeholders, the GBKMP can ensure the socially and environmentally sustainable development of renewable energy projects, especially offshore wind power, contributes to meeting Vietnam’s growing energy demand.
